Hannah Julia van Duijnhoven is a Marine Biologist, specialized in Bio Inspired Innovations, Microbiology & Ecology and passionate about seagrass ecosystems. She obtained her bachelor’s degree in Biology from Utrecht University, The Netherlands, in 2018, followed by her Master's degree in Bio Inspired Innovation with a focus on Marine Biology from the same institution in 2020. During her Master's studies, Hannah conducted research on environmental stressors affecting seagrass health and recovery, culminating in her final project. She worked closely together within a team, showing her organizational and teamwork skills. In recognition of her academic goals, she was awarded a research fund by Van Eeden in 2019 to conduct her Master's thesis on Seagrass Recovery in the Dutch Caribbean, which she successfully completed with a grade above average (7.7) in the Dutch grading system. Following her academic pursuits, Hannah gained teaching experience as a high school biology teacher at Gymnasium Beekvliet, where she instructed and mentored over 100 students aged 11 to 15. This reflects her interest in passing knowledge to a young generation. Since 2022, she has been employed as a Researcher at the Centre of Marine Sciences (CCMAR), working for project BlueForests within both research groups Marine Microbial Ecology and Biotechnology and Marine Plant Ecology. She collaborates with the University of Amsterdam working for project RESTORESEAS as well. Her current research explores the role of bacteria in promoting plant health, growth, and resilience, a field that is promising and yet underexplored. She is skilled in both laboratory practices such as DNA extractions, PCRs and sequencing, as field practices. She is a certified scientific rescue diver with extensive experience, having completed over 150 scientific campaign dives working both closely together with colleges and independently. Hannah has actively contributed to the scientific community, with a publication as first and corresponding author on a whole bacterial genome and its growth promoting capacities for plant host species, currently under minor revision. She has been acknowledged in one article and is first author and co-author on another paper, yet to be published. Additionally, she has participated in numerous research projects collaborating with fellow scientists, organized events, supervised MSc dissertations, and mentored master students in field and lab methods. Hannah has presented her work at national conferences and has been accepted to present at additional national and international conferences this year, including two oral presentations and two poster presentations. Her background and young scientific career demonstrate her commitment, willingness to engage with other researchers, to learn and pass knowledge to others. Her dedication to marine science and conservation is evident in her work and academic pursuits. Keywords: Seagrass restoration; Nature-based solutions; Microbiome engineering; Marine ecology; Biodiversity; Conservation.
