Felipe Xavier is a researcher and visual artist. He is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Artistic Studies – Art and Mediations at NOVA University Lisbon and in Art Studies and Archaeology at Vrije Universiteit Brussel. Xavier conducts research at the Institute of Art History (IHA) at NOVA FCSH and at Histories of Art, Architecture, and Visual Culture (VISU) at Vrije Universiteit Brussel. He holds a master’s degree in Multimedia/Culture and Art from the University of Porto and a bachelor’s degree in Social Communication/Audiovisual from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. His research interests lie within the Humanities, with a particular focus on Contemporary Art. He is currently developing his doctoral thesis, Precarious Forms: A Study on the Aesthetics of Instability and Insecurity in Contemporary Art (1989–2019), as a recipient of the Eutopia scholarship awarded by the Foundation for Science and Technology, I.P.
