Cristina Carlos holds a PhD in Agricultural and Forestry Sciences from the University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro since 2017 and a degree in Agricultural Engineering from the same University since 2000. Between 1999 and 2021, she worked as a senior technician at the Association for the Development of Viticulture in the Duriense (ADVID), where she provided technical support in the areas of sustainable viticulture, functional biodiversity and conservation biological control . In 2022, she started working at the University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro (UTAD), as an Assistant Professor, teaching curricular units related to viticulture and soil conservation. She is the author of several publications related to vine protection and conservation biological control. In terms of research, she has expertise in the following areas of study that contribute to a more sustainable viticulture: - Efficient and intelligent monitoring of vineyard pests (smart traps) as well as modeling their development, contributing to the development of decision support systems (DSS); - Development and/or adaptation of alternative methods of protection against chemical control (e.g. mating disruption) against grapevine pests; - Functional biodiversity, evaluating the quality of ecological infrastructures in the vineyard ecosystem and their impacts (positive and negative) on the vineyard and wine; - Development of tools for disseminating (outputs) research results to the wine sector and the academic community at national and international level Cristina Carlos, é doutorada em Ciências Agrárias e Florestais pela Universidade de Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro desde 2017 e licenciada em Engenharia Agrícola pela mesma Universidade desde 2000. Entre 1999 e 2021 trabalhou como técnica superior na Associação para o Desenvolvimento da Viticultura Duriense (ADVID), onde prestou apoio técnico nas áreas da viticultura sustentável, biodiversidade funcional e controlo biológico por conservação. Em 2022, começou a trabalhar na Universidade de Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro (UTAD), como Professora Auxiliar, lecionando unidades curriculares relacionadas com a viticultura e conservação do solo. É autora de várias publicações relacionadas com a proteção da vinha e o controlo biológico da conservação. Em termos de investigação possui competências nas seguintes áreas de estudo que contribuem para uma viticultura mais sustentável: - Monitorização eficiente e inteligente de pragas da vinha (armadilhas inteligentes) assim como a modelação do seu desenvolvimento, contribuindo para o desenvolvimento de sistemas de apoio à decisão (DSS); - Desenvolvimento e/ou adaptação de métodos de proteção alternativos à luta química (ex. confusão sexual) contra pragas da vinha; - Biodiversidade funcional, avaliando a qualidade das infraestruturas ecológicas no ecossistema vitícola e os seus impactos (positivos e negativos) na vinha e no vinho; - Elaboração de ferramentas de divulgação (outputs) dos resultados da investigação junto do setor vitivinícola e junto da comunidade académica a nível nacional e internacional
