Samira Lakouraj Mansouri is a researcher at the CICECO – Aveiro Institute of Materials, University of Aveiro, and is enrolled in a doctoral course in Materials Science and Engineering at the Department of Materials and Ceramic Engineering, University of Aveiro. Currently, Samira is involved in the implementation of the project “ALCHEMHY – Alternative Routes for Basic Chemicals Production Using Hydrogen as Feedstock” funded by the European Commission. Her research is conducted within the Laboratory of Solid-State Ionics and Energy Conversion (CICECO/UA) and is focused on advanced ceramic materials for high-temperature electrochemical technologies. Her academic trajectory reflects a strong commitment to developing sustainable and advanced materials for energy and environmental technologies. She received her BSc degree in Polymer Engineering from Qom University of Technology (2015) and MSc degree in Polymerization Engineering from the Iran Polymer and Petrochemical Institute (IPPI, Tehran) (2019). Her early research focused on polymer materials, including PVC foaming technologies and cycloolefin polymerization using late transition metal catalysts (alpha-diimine nickel systems). She later expanded her expertise into conductive polymer nanocomposites during her research at Sapienza University of Rome, where she developed graphene- and carbon nanotube-based flexible sensors for wearable and biomedical applications. Her background integrates polymer science with functional materials, now extending to oxide-based ceramics and energy materials. She has hands-on experience with a wide range of characterization techniques, including XRD (Rietveld refinement), Raman, SEM, NMR, GPC, FTIR, DSC-TGA, and electrical/electromechanical analysis, and is the author of several peer-reviewed publications and international conference papers.

2024/05/01 - 2024/07/31 Developed strong teamwork skills through collaboration within a multidisciplinary team while designing a research proposal on sustainable nanotechnology. The project focused on (photo)catalysts derived from waste and natural sources, emphasizing circular economy and upcycling strategies such as the LIMON process, waste-derived TiO2 nanoparticles, and biomass-based carbon quantum dots (CQDs). Presented the proposal to an international scientific jury, achieving second place as a group among competing teams.
