I first engaged in academia in 1997 as an undergraduate student in History at Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (UFMG) from which I graduated in 2001. From 1999 to 2001, I was in a scientific initiation scholarship program researching for the project "Vida Cotidiana na Comarca do Rio das Velhas no século XVIII", collecting data in inventories and wills to analyze the social and economical life in the region. That was my first contact with notarial documents, which later became reference sources for my Master´s Thesis. From 2002 to 2004 I was in a scholarship program at FAPEMIG (Fundação de Amparo à Pesquisa do Estado de Minas Gerais) to develop my Master´s Thesis. In this program I analyzed how illegitimate children were inserted in their families daily lives in Vila de Sabará. From 2004 to 2005 I was an assistant professor at Faculdade ASA de Brumadinho (Minas Gerais, Brazil), teaching History of the Iberian Civilization, History of Brazil, and Archives and Historical Museums. I was also an adviser for students writing their Final Degree Projects and participated in FDP committees. I was also the head researcher for the project "Nos trilhos da memória" funded by Faculdade ASA. This project aimed at analyzing the impacts of the railroad on the region. Concurrently, I offered training courses in Palaeography Studies in several private universities. With intent of analyzing the similarities and differences between illegitimate family formation in Sabará (Minas Gerais, Brazil) and Braga (Minho, Portugal) I applied for Programa Alban (Programa de Bolsas de Alto Nível da União Europeia para a América Latina) in order to work on a Doctoral Dissertation at Universidade do Minho. I was granted the Alban scholarship from 2005 to 2008. In my final year as a PhD student (2009), I was granted a research scholarship for foreigners (Bolsa de Investigação para Estrangeiros) at Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian. Four years later, in 2010, I defended my PhD Dissertation. The opportunity for internationalization and the contact with sources about the History of the Portuguese Empire encouraged me to live in Portugal. From 2010 to 2011, I was a project consultant in the project funded by FCT, "Pequena Nobreza e Nobreza da Terra na construção do império: Os arquipélagos atlânticos", I was responsible for revising digitized documents and their transposition to the textual format, using OCR tools. In 2010, I applied for an FCT Postdoctoral scholarship, having CHAM as the host institution. The project "Between the Lords of the House and the Relatives: Secretaries and servants of the Portuguese embassies in London and Paris (1640- 1815)". While developing this project, I was focused on Family History and Social and Cultural History, analyzing the structure of mission ambassadors´ families in the European Courts. In that context, the ambassadors´ relatives were all servants who accompanied and lived with them. My intent was to learn who the servants were, their roles in the embassy, the relationship between ambassadors and servants, how they were selected, and so on and so forth. In 2019, under Decree-Law number 57/2016, I was hired as researcher by FCSH/UNL at CHAM, where I currently work.
