Idália Duarte de Almeida holds a BSc in Clinical Physiology, which comprises the old degrees in Cardiopneumology and Neurophysiology, in 2016 at Coimbra Health School. She concluded MSc in Molecular Biomedicine in 2019, at University of Aveiro. At the time she was doing her BSc, when she had direct contact with the clinical and hospital environment and with patients with the most diverse pathologies, she realized that her main interest was clinical research. She developed a special interest in neuromuscular degenerative diseases. For her dissertation, she worked with ATR-FTIR spectroscopy to study the lipid profile associated with aging and characterize some possible biomarkers of healthy aging and longevity. Her work also supported the study age-related spectroscopic profile of mice. She is the author of a review article on lipids and aging published in Biogerontology. During her dissertation and after finishing her master's degree, she had the opportunity to cooperate with other iBiMED research groups. She trained other students on the use of FTIR spectroscopy and multivariate analysis and contributed with her work to other projects, namely in the study of Myotonic Dystrophy. The work resulting from this collaboration was already been published. With this work, she learned how to work in a team, to seek solutions to face daily challenges and e to help other students. Her constant need to acquire new knowledge and be aware of the cutting-edge research is demonstrated by the participation in different workshops, congresses, conferences, and seminars. Her main attributes are her autonomy, criticism, sharped opinion, and perspicacity that never fulfills the curiosity. In2020, she joined the COVID-19 screening team as a diagnostic technician, under the MAREESS program. This team worked at iBiMED under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Manuel Santos and the principal aim was to screen SARS-CoV-2 virus in the elderly and UA community. In the year 2021 I won a PhD Research Scholarship from FCT, and I am currently attending the Doctoral program in Biomedicine, at the Biomedicine Institute of the University of Aveiro.
