António Rego is currently a Contracted Researcher at SOLFARCOS LDA (Pharmaceutical and Cosmetics Solutions), where he plays an integral role in the Ingredients and Processes Team. Additionally, he holds the position of Invited Assistant Professor at the Department of Biology, Universidade do Minho. António earned his Bachelor of Science in Applied Biology (2008), Master of Science in Molecular Genetics (2011), and Doctor of Philosophy in Molecular and Environmental Biology (2017). His doctoral research, conducted in collaboration with CBMA and IBMC in Portugal, and Rowan University in New Jersey, USA, focused on elucidating the roles of sphingolipids in cellular stress responses and signaling pathways. Throughout his career, António has also served as a Postdoctoral Fellow at CBMA and CEB, making significant contributions to both academic and industrial research. He has authored 15 peer-reviewed journal articles in prestigious Q1 journals, with one book chapter currently under review. His research has earned over 253 citations and an h-index of 9 according to Scopus. António has served as a referee for several peer-reviewed journals. António has supervised 7 bachelor's, 4 master's, and 1 Ph.D. student. He has also served as the main referee for 11 Bachelor/Master juries. Beyond his academic duties, he actively contributes to academic outreach, organizing scientific meetings, Science Festivals, and European Researchers' Nights. António's leadership skills extend to research management, having secured FCT funding for his WINE-TUNNING project (EXPL/BAA-AGR/1096/2021). His primary areas of expertise encompass Molecular Biotechnology, Molecular and Cell Biology, and Yeast Cell Biology.
