Candela García Pichel. Completed a Bachelor's degree in Biology (2020), where she did an internship in the Marine Observatory of Asturias. Afterwards, she completed the Master's in Fisheries and Aquaculture (2024) by the University of Algarve. She did her master's thesis with the Aquaculture Research Group (AQUAGROUP) under the framework of the SPERMANTIOX project in the Centre of Marine Sciences (CCMAR) in the specific research line of Reproductive Biotechnology. She published 2 articles in scientific journals as a co-author and participated in 3 international conferences where she presented 3 posters. One poster as a first author in the International Workshop on the Biology of the Fish Gametes 2024 and two as a co-author, one in Aquaculture Europe 2023 and the other one in the World Aquaculture 2023, all in the discipline of Fish Reproduction. She worked as a Master Student Fellow and Research technician in CCMAR and participated in 3 projects (GERMROS, SPERMANTIOX and BREEDFLAT) with the Aquaculture Research Group. In addition, she collaborated as a Teaching Assistant in Animal and Plant Histology at the University of the Algarve. Her involvement in disseminating science to the public through outreach activities is evidenced by the organization of the workshop called "Reproductive Biotechnology in Flatfish Species: Trends in Breeders Management" organised by CCMAR under the framework of the BREEDFLAT project and her participation in the "Be Happy Fish Challenge" hackathon where she presented a project based on sustainable aquaculture. Moreover, she attended three training courses: "Introduction to Fluorescence Imaging and Sample preparation" by CCMAR, "Using Modelling as a Tool for Experimental Design" and "Welfare Indicators" by AQUAEXCEL and did other online courses such as "Genetical Models for Animal Breeding" from the University of Wageningen and "Python programming" from the University of Cambridge.
