Catarina Gonçalves Pimpão is a PhD student in Pharmacy, Biochemistry, since January 2021 at the Research Institute for Medicines (iMed.ULisboa), Faculty of Pharmacy, Universidade de Lisboa. She completed her Master's degree in Biochemistry for Health in 2019 at the NOVA School of Science and Technology | FCT NOVA and a Bachelor´s Degree in Biochemistry in 2017 at the Faculty of Sciences of Universidade de Lisboa. She has published eight publications in peer-review journals, presented eight oral communications and eighteen poster communications in national and international conferences. She participated from 2019 to 2020 as a Research Fellow in one research project (PTDC/BTM-SAL/28977/2017) at the Research Institute for Medicines (iMed.ULisboa), Faculty of Pharmacy, Universidade de Lisboa. C. Pimpão has also organized three scientific events and participated in several worskhops directed to young researchers such as young scientific forums and summer schools but also in bioimaging courses. She also did a 3-month internship in Lene Nejsum's Lab at the Department of Clinical Medicine at Aarhus University to investigate the influence of aquaporins on the expression of adhesion proteins. Her areas of interest are focused on studying aquaporins as potential therapeutic targets in cancer by identifying modulators with application for cancer diagnostic and treatment but also by investigating the impact of these proteins in biological processes and signaling pathways on this disease.
