Soumodip Sarkar is a Full Professor at the Department of Management at the University of Évora, researcher at CEFAGE-UE and the Executive President of the regional Science Park of Alentejo (PACT). He is also a Fellow of the Asia Center at Harvard University. Prof. Sarkar has been a Vice-Rector of the University of Évora from 2018-2022 and he was the first Dean of the pioneering Doctoral School in the country (IIFA) from 2010-2014. Until recently he has been the President of Accreditation body of the Portuguese University Evaluation Commission (A3ES), in the area of Management in Portugal. Internationally, he is part of the CEEMAN accreditation team. He is also the President of the Social Science (2) area for evaluation of Lithuanian Universities, appointed by the Lithuanina Research Council (2018-2022 Evaluation period). His current research interests include innovation (especially related to implications of AI, and the rise of emerging countries), entrepreneurship and sustainability. His recent research has been published in high impact journals such as: Strategic Management Journal, Journal of Operations Management, California Management Review, Journal of Business Venturing, Journal of Small Business Management, European Management Journal, Government Information Quarterly, Regional Studies, Entrepreneurship & Regional Development, Technology Forecasting and Social Change, Journal of Business Research, Journal of Cleaner Production, Journal of Knowledge Economy, European Journal of Innovation Management, Service Industries Journal, Trends in Food Science and Technology, Regional Science and Urban Economics, Energy Journal among others. He has published four books on entrepreneurship and innovation, and his most recent book, EntreSutra was published by Bloomsbury in April 2019. He has supervised 14 master dissertations, 9 doctoral thesis and 4 post-doctoral projects. He has been a coordinator as well as team member of a several international (EU funded) as well as regional projects, and currently involved in nine different projects. Prof Sarkar has given a number of international keynote speeches, and a sought after speaker on the relevance of entrepreneurship in society. He has been featured in national and international media, including the Economist and BBC.
