Diogo Sardinha studied philosophy at the University of Lisbon (BA) and at the University of Paris-Nanterre (MA and PhD under the supervision of Étienne Balibar), before obtaining his French Habilitation at the University of Paris 8 Vincennes-Saint-Denis. He was a visiting scholar at the philosophy department of Catholic University of São Paulo (2006), French-German Marc Bloch Research Center for Social Sciences Berlin (2007), philosophy department of Freie Universität Berlin (2007-2008, hosted by Gunter Gebauer) and Institute for Comparative Literature and Society-ICLS of Columbia University New York (2013). In 2010 he became fellow of the Collège International de Philosophie in Paris for six years, coordinating its Violence and Politics research program. From 2013 to 2016 he was the Chair of the Collège International de Philosophie and the only non-French person to hold this office since the Collège was established in 1983 by a group of thinkers led by Jacques Derrida. Since 2023 he his co-chair of its Scientific Committee. He published 3 books, and edited 5 books and 5 journal issues on Kant, Foucault, Deleuze, Laclau, Balibar, among others, as well as on Europe, Brazil, the sexual difference, the archives. His journal articles and book chapters are published in 8 languages in 11 countries. His main research interests include history, politics and anthropology, focused on German philosophy after Kant and contemporary French philosophy. He is currently a researcher at the Center of Philosophy of the University of Lisbon.
