I am an Invited Assistant Professor at the NOVA School of Science and Technology (NOVA FCT), contributing to Industrial Engineering and Management education through quantitative methods, quality planning, and project-based learning grounded in real organizational challenges. Previously, I served as an Assistant Professor at Universidade Portucalense, teaching programming and information systems while strengthening the connection between engineering education and industrial practice. As an integrated researcher at UNIDEMI, my work explores how artificial intelligence and decision support systems can augment human capabilities within Industry 5.0 socio-technical environments. I focus on operational excellence, human factors, and knowledge-driven organizations, advancing technologies that enhance judgment, engagement, and organizational resilience rather than replace human expertise. My research combines strong international collaboration with practical impact. Through the Enterprise Excellence Network and initiatives connected to the Shingo Institute, I contribute to global workshops and leadership development activities with organizations such as Jaguar Land Rover, RS Group, Endress+Hauser, Siemens Energy, ABB, and Mars, supporting human-centered Lean transformation and sustainable excellence. I hold a PhD in Industrial Engineering and Management with distinction and honor from the University of Aveiro and a specialization in Data Science Engineering from Instituto Superior Técnico (Técnico+). My doctoral research reimagines the future of work through a human-centric Industry 5.0 framework and led to the development of BoosToRaise, an intelligent engagement platform co-created with multinational partners including Bosch, IKEA Industry, and OLI – Sistemas Sanitários. My academic and research trajectory has been recognized with 24 national and international awards and distinctions, reflecting contributions to innovation, scientific excellence, and industry–academia collaboration. Across academia and industry, my mission is to help organizations navigate digital transformation responsibly — ensuring that artificial intelligence, leadership, and operational excellence evolve together to build more resilient, ethical, and deeply human workplaces.
