C. Marques: Expertise on optical sensors and devices for optical communications and sensing. He received the Ph.D. degree in Physics Engineering from the UA, Portugal, in 2013. He was a Marie Curie (MC) Fellow in the Aston Institute of Photonics Technologies, Aston University, U.K until March 2016. After that, he was a Research Scientist (Assistant and Principal Researcher (CEEC))in the Physics Department & I3N, University of Aveiro, Aveiro, Portugal. Currently, he is Professor in Physics Department, University of Aveiro, Portugal, and full member of CICECO - Aveiro Institute of Materials, University of Aveiro, Portugal. His main interests include innovative optical devices and structures for sensing, integrated optics, low cost interrogation systems, eHealth, aviation, data acquisition, predictive analytics and optical transmission data. He authored or co-authored 4 books, 7 book chapters, 1 magazine article, 3 prefaces, 2 prototypes and more than 230 journal peer-review papers (journals like Biosensors and Bioelectronics Journal, IEEE Internet of Things Journal, Journal of Energy Storage, OPTICA Photonics Research, Optics Express, Sci. Reports (Nature), IEEE Access, IEEE JLT, IEEE Sensors, Advanced Photonics Research (Wiley), Aquaculture, etc), more than 100 conference papers with emphasis on optical communications, data processing and sensing. According to Google Scholar, journal/conference articles have received more 9000 citations (h-index: 65 in google scholar and 58 in Scopus). He was an organization member of IMOC2019 conference. He was awarded with several awards as researcher, reviewer and editor. Also, he is Associate Editor of prestigious scientific journals: Opto-Electronic Advances Journal, OPTICA Optics Express, IEEE Sensors Journal, Optical Fiber Technology (Elsevier), and he also acts as referee of several high level international books/journals (Wiley, Nature, OPTICA (former OSA), CRC, IEEE, Elsevier), receiving awards by review/editorial quality. He is a regular expert evaluator of international research projects of different countries such as Romania (UEFISCDI agency), Belgium (F.R.S.-FNRS), UK (via Multiply project - Marie Curie actions), Portugal (ANI), Serbia (Fond za nauku) and Poland (NCN agency), including European Commission. He is a regular TPC member of some international and reputable conferences of Optics and Photonics field, and he is regular invited to be session chairman in some international conferences. Last 10 years, he participated/ leaded in several research projects (25 in total) including national projects from FCT agency, European projects including Marie Curie actions (Individual Fellowship POSSIBLE project ID: 628604 (with Airbus and Meggit from UK), ITN Tripod ID: 608382, POSPORI project nº 844618), FET (InstaBat ID: 955930), and other international from Brazil (CAPES, FAPES, CNPq, etc (see project lists and the active ones in projects section) . Currently, he is the coordinator professor of Technologies for Aerospace Energy Systems. He was coordinator professor of Optical Technologies, Lasers and Photonics, from Physics Engineering doctoral programme, Physics Engineering Integrated Master, respectively, and was co-coordinator professor of Photonics from Physics Engineering Master. He is lecturer in Sensors and Actuators from Physics Engineering master and also in Topics in Doctoral programme of Physics Engineering. He is coordinator professor of Technologies in Space energy systems from Aerospace Engineering degree as well the coordinator professor from Physics Department of Introduction to Aerospace Engineering degree. He was/is supervisor of more than 60 students from research fellows (pos-doc and junior investigators), PhD students, master students, and Bsc students.
