Fernando Bernardo is Assistant Professor at the Department of Chemical Engineering, University of Coimbra, lecturing Product Design and Process Design and doing research in the area of Process Systems Engineering. He got his diploma in Chemical Engineering in 1997 (University of Coimbra) and a PhD in Chemical Engineering in 2010 (also University of Coimbra). He has experience and published work in: (i) design and optimization of chemical products and processes, (ii) model analysis and optimization under uncertainty, (iii) product/process design concepts and methodologies, (iv) computer-aided chemical engineering education, and (v) modelling and optimization of microstructured products and respective manufacturing processes, with applications in cosmetic and pharmaceutical formulated products. He has published 32 papers in international journals (including reference journals in the area such as AIChE J and Comput & Chem Eng), with 466 citations and a h-index of 12 (Scopus database, Aug 2023). He has supervised 16 MSc theses and two PhD thesis, and has currently five ongoing PhD projects.
