Jörg Frommlet holds a MSc degree in Biology from the University of Konstanz, Germany (2002/10/07) and a PhD in Ocean and Earth Science from the University of Southampton, United Kingdom (2009/01/19). His diverse research interests evolve around marine microbial ecology and molecular genetics, focusing on interdisciplinary research in phycology, microbial symbiosis, life history traits, and photobiology. He concluded 3 postdoctoral fellowships between 2009 to 2019 and is employed since 2019/02/01 as a researcher at the Centre for Environmental and Marine Studies (CESAM), University of Aveiro. He participated in 10 projects and authored or co-authored proposals that attracted competitive funds >1M Euros at the national, EU and international level. He published 19 articles in Web of Science journals (including PNAS and The ISME Journal), co-invented a registered patent, took part in the organisation of 2 international meetings and 3 international EU-FP7 workshops. He supervises(d) 2 PhD students, 4 MSc students, 11 BSc students and lectured in the MSc courses Marine Biology, Applied and Environmental Microbiology, and Marine Primary Production, and in an advanced MSc workshop on microbial diversity.
