Ana Barra received her PhD in Nanosciences and Nanotechnology from the University of Aveiro in 2024, with honors and distinction. She was awarded the European Doctorate distinction after completing three doctoral research stays at the Instituto de Ciencia de Materiales de Madrid, ICMM-CSIC, totaling six months. She is currently a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Aveiro. Her research focuses on the design and processing of sustainable functional composite materials based on biopolymers, carbon nanostructures, and inorganic fillers, with applications in flexible electronics, packaging, environmental remediation, and biomedicine. She has authored 14 peer-reviewed journal articles and two peer-reviewed proceedings papers, is an inventor on a patent family concerning electrically conductive biocomposites, and has received three scientific distinctions. She has participated in national and European research projects, six COST Actions, and four COST Short-Term Scientific Missions in Spain, Ireland, and Romania. Her current activities include student supervision, proposal development, scientific evaluation, and research on functional materials for smart and sustainable packaging.
