Ana Barra received her PhD in Nanosciences and Nanotechnology from the University of Aveiro, Portugal, in 2024, graduating with honors and distinction. Part of her doctoral research was conducted at the Materials Science Institute of Madrid (ICMM–CSIC), leading to the award of the European Doctorate distinction. She holds a master’s degree in Biochemistry from the University of Aveiro (2015) and a bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry from the University of Coimbra, Portugal (2013). She is currently a junior researcher at the University of Aveiro working in materials science and engineering, focusing on the development of functional biocomposite materials for advanced applications. Her research explores bio-based polymers combined with nanostructured carbon materials to design multifunctional materials with tailored electrical and magnetic properties. She has authored 14 peer-reviewed articles, received three scientific awards, and participated in 11 research projects. She is actively involved in several COST Actions and has completed four Short-Term Scientific Missions (STSMs) in Spain, Ireland, and Romania. Her research interests include biocomposites, biopolymers, chitosan, graphene derivatives, carbon nanostructures, electrical conductivity, and magnetic hyperthermia.
