João Pina graduated in Industrial Chemistry from the University of Coimbra in 2000 and, after two years working outside academia, he obtained a Master's degree in Chemistry in 2005. In 2009 he obtained is PhD in Chemistry, subfield Photochemistry on the photophysics of organic conjugated oligomers and polymers for LED and solar cell devices applications. His research interests are in the range of Ultrafast Laser Spectroscopy materials characterization and optical spectroscopy. His main scientific and technical field of expertise includes pump-probe transient absorption spectroscopy together with steady-state and time-resolved fluorescence spectroscopy. He is currently Assistant Professor in the Chemistry Department at the University of Coimbra and vice director of the Coimbra Chemistry Centre (CQC).
