Psychotherapist | Researcher | Vice-Rector for Research at University of Maia *** I am a psychotherapist and researcher with expertise in process outcome studies, with a particular focus on depression, psychotherapy, and e-health interventions. As a psychotherapist I have practice and research both on Emotion-Focused Therapy and Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy. My current focus as a researcher is to study and develop better practices facilitating mental emotional processing, as well to better understand the emotional mechanisms of change in those same practices.As the principal investigator of funded projects, my grants have been mainly in the treatment of depression. The most recent ones, "iCare4Depression" and "STOP Depression," both aimed to develop innovative blended psychotherapy interventions integrating face-to-face sessions with digital solutions for depression management and prevention. My publication record includes 81 publications, comprising peer-reviewed articles, book chapters, conference papers, and co-authored books published by publishers sch as Cambridge University Press (ID Researcher/Web of Science h-index: 15; Scholar Google: h-index = 24). *** Currently serving as the Vice-Rector for Research at the University of Maia since July 2021, I had held several positions related with academic management throughout my career. I previously served as the coordinator of the Laboratory of Research on Psychotherapy at the University of Maia, affiliated with the Center of Psychology at the University of Porto (CPUP), and as the Coordinator of the Masters¿ Degree in Clinical and Health Psychology. Currently I am the Coordinator of the PhD in Clinical Psychology. I have had also been actively involved in assessing grant proposals for the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) and I had gained international experience in evaluating doctoral dissertations in Portugal, Spain, Finland, and Ireland. I also have experience as a supervisor of successfully concluded PhD by different students. *** I was elected three times by my peers for the national Assembly of Representatives of the Portuguese Association of Psychologists (Ordem dos Psicólogos Portugueses). My curriculum Ciência Vitae reflects my diverse research interests, including depression, psychotherapy, emotion-focused therapy, therapeutic change processes, e-health, and the dialogical self.
