DORA AGAPITO holds a PhD in Tourism (2013), an MSc in Marketing (2010) and a BSc in Communication Sciences (2007), University of the Algarve (UAlg), Portugal. She developed her Post-Doctoral Studies in Consumer Psychology (2018) at the Faculty of Economics, University of Porto. Currently, she is Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Economics, University of the Algarve, where she is Director of the PhD in Tourism and the MSc in Tourism Organisations Management. She is also a member of the Direction Board of the MSc in Marketing Management. Agapito is an integrated member of CinTurs - Research Centre for Tourism, Sustainability and Well-being, where she is the coordinator of the research area 'Tourism and Hospitality Competitiveness and Governance'. Previously, she was a Senior Lecturer in Tourism & Events Management at the International Business School of the University of Lincoln (2017-2020), United Kingdom (UK). She was awarded the Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (HEA), UK. She develops activities as a reviewer and external advisor. The researcher has published in top scientific journals, such as Tourism Management, Annals of Tourism Research, Journal of Destination Marketing and Management, Journal of Travel and Tourism Marketing, Current Issues in Tourism, and European Planning Studies. She is the coordinator of courses in the area of consumer behaviour in tourism and marketing management. She also teaches in the PhD programme in Tourism and the PhD programme in Economy and Management Sciences (Faculty of Economics, University of Algarve), and supervises Master and PhD students. Over 30 peer-reviewed journal articles (including Scopus, ISI Web of Science, ABS list), 12 book chapters, 5 books, encyclopaedia entries, as well as conference proceedings and book reviews have been published. She participated in multiple research and consultancy projects, and was invited as a keynote speaker at several scientific events (Hong Kong, Spain and Portugal). Currently, the researcher participates in the research projects "Investigating the visitor experience with hearing impairment in Hong Kong Wetland Park as a multi-sensory functional landscape" [RGC, Ref No. 14607919], promoted by the Department of Geography and Resource Management, Chinese University of Hong Kong; "MONITUR - Observation and Monitoring of the Algarve Tourist Destination: Contributions for its Sustainable Development", University of Algarve (ALG-01-0145-FEDER-072582), and "Turexperience: Impacts of tourist experiences on destination image: in search of new opportunities for the Algarve" [Reference: ALG-01-0145-FEDER-039588), Portugal. Additionally, she presented many communications at scientific conferences and was a member of the scientific and organising committees of international scientific events. Currently, she is a member of the editorial board of the peer-reviewed Journal of Destination Marketing and Management , Tourism Review, and International Journal of Contemporary Hospitality Management, which are indexed in Scopus (Q1). She was awarded a merit scholarship (2004/2005), a research scholarship (2010), two prizes at international conferences (2014, 2020), and the UALG Teaching Learning Award - Teacher of the Year (2020-2021). Her main research areas are: Sensory Marketing; Responsible Tourism; Experience Design (Tourism and Hospitality); Destination Marketing Management; Consumer Behaviour; and Social Marketing.
