Etienne Figueiredo Franca

Researcher and advisor in international politics, focusing on policy formulation, governance issues and the humanitarian, development, and peacekeeping nexus. WORLD HEALTH ORGANIZATION Senior Consultant, Advocacy and Communication (2020-2021): Supported strategic communication and advocacy to strengthen country readiness for COVID-19 vaccines introduction. Led on communication activities planning and implementation, identifying channels, partners, key advocacy moments and opportunities for information dissemination. Guided the production of tailored messages and materials, including knowledge translation, branding, and publishing management. Coordinated advocacy and communications activities in support of the Campaign to End Fistula, with impact in over 50 countries. UNITED NATIONS POPULATION FUND Communication Officer (2004-2009). Led communications and advocacy activities at corporate level and in multi-stakeholder platforms, private sector and government fora in Brazil and in South-South contexts, with focus on mobilizing political and financial support for the institution. FLORIDA INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY Teaching & Research Assistant (2002-2003). Taught American Government and Introduction to Comparative Politics. Also performed data collection and analysis on comparative politics and violence trends in South America, public opinion and institutional performance. UNITED NATIONS OFFICE ON DRUGS AND CRIME Communication Assistant (1998-2002). Planned and implemented broader communications and advocacy strategies at corporate level and as part of projects with government counterparts.
