Dr. Coondoo obtained PhD in Applied Physics in 2008 from India´s premier institute, University of Delhi, after winning the highly competitive national level CSIR-UGC doctoral fellowship grant. Next, she worked as Research Associate at National Physical Laboratory, India, on Ferroelectric Liquid Crystal for electro-optic devices (project as PI, funded by CSIR, India). Thereafter, she worked as a Visiting Researcher for a year at the University of Puerto Rico, USA. During 2012-2017, she was a postdoctoral researcher (FCT-funded project grant) at the University of Aveiro, Portugal. Since 2019, she is employed as a Researcher (FCT-DL57/2016) at University of Aveiro. She won FCT-funded project in 2021 (EXPL/CTM-CTM/0687/2021) as PI. While working in various international research labs, she gained expertise on several fabrication & characterization methods. She is well-versed with solid-state, sol-gel, thin/thick film deposition methods (spin coating, RF sputtering, pulsed laser deposition, dip coating, doctor blade). She has explored lead-free materials (ferroelectric, piezoelectric, magnetic, multiferroics) for mechanical energy harvesting, electrocaloric, magnetocaloric, magnetoelectric application. She is also working on flexible polymer composites for energy harvesting, energy storage & electrocaloric applications. She has imparted her vast knowledge and skills to younger students. She supervised 3 masters/2 postdoc & co-supervised 1 master thesis. She has published 66 papers plus 2 submitted (1st author in almost 50%), 5 proceedings/conference papers & has a granted US patent. She has 1750 citations & h-index: 24 & i10-index: 39 (Google scholar). One of her articles was selected as cover page of the journal Materials Research Bulletin [47 (12) 2012]. A review article authored by her is one of the most cited articles of the Journal of Advanced Dielectrics. She has delivered 5 invited/keynote talks & has around 50 presentations (oral/poster at several conferences) & a recipient of 2 `best poster´ awards. She has edited 5 books and authored 4 book chapters. She is an editorial board member for 6 journals (J Adv Die/Prabha Mat Sc Lett/Frontiers/Nanomat Sc Eng etc). She has guest-edited 7 special issues as well. Dr. Coondoo participated in several projects & built transnational collaborations with R&D groups based in Portugal, USA, Spain, Italy, Slovenia, Czech Rep, Japan, Russia & India. She also received a grant for Short Term Scientific Mission funded by COST Actions. She had 3 months scientific stay at ICMM, Madrid. She visited the Autonomous University of Madrid in 2023 for project-related work. She is a member of Indo-European Assoc for Sc & Arts, Mat Res Soc(Singapore & US), Indian Sc Cong Assoc, and Instrument Soc India. She was the organizing committee member for ISAF conference (Univ Aveiro), ISIF conference (Univ Puerto Rico, USA), ICNMSME (Univ Aveiro), NTRIA 2023 (Univ Aveiro) and was session chair in two of those events. She organized two one-day workshops during the International conference NTRIA 2023. She is reviewer for ~20 journals, viz. Nano Energy, Scientific Reports, ACS Electron., J Alloys Comp, J Amer Ceram Soc, J Euro Ceram Soc, Sol-gel Sc Tech etc. Her research interests include multifunctional materials (bulk, thin film, polymers & nanostructures) for their application in magneto-/electrocaloric, energy harvesting, energy storage, and sensors. Besides, she participates in cultural events/publications organized by Bhoomi-Portugal.
