Highly experienced and dedicated Ecologist, Conservation Biologist, and Data Analyst with 14 years of expertise. Skilled in biogeography, climate change vulnerability assessments, and ecological modeling, with a particular research interest in extreme environments and ecological adaptations. Demonstrates a proven ability to effortlessly transition from terrestrial (arid and semi-arid environments - Ph.D. in 2016) to marine (intertidal) research, all the while actively pursuing innovative solutions and enhancing modeling capabilities. Proficient in ecological modeling and statistical analysis, explored issues related to models' performance, expanded modelling skills from correlative to mechanistic, including DEB models; and more recently, from macro to micro scale. A post-graduation in Computational Statistics and Data Analysis (2021) enhanced proficiency in handling complex datasets. Owns a proven and solid scientific track record since the Ph.D. followed by subsequent research initiatives. Attraction of competitive international research funds is demonstrated leadership in securing competitive international research funding (as PI), and multiple participations in national and international successful projects (e.g.: SPARC, ENGAGE-SKA, ESA - Due Diversity II, Ocean3R, FutureMares, BlueForesting). Fieldwork included multiple days in expeditions to areas such as the Sahara Desert, Atlas mountains, or Cape Verde islands. Teaching activities include multiple advanced coursed on Ecological Niche Modelling, and students supervision (two MScs concluded in 2020 and 2021). Current research focuses on the development a biodeterioration model to predict biological impact on exposed rock surfaces and open-air rock-art, under ROCKinBIO project (2022.04830.PTDC).
