Armando Silvestre (born 1968), Full Professor, University of Aveiro, Department of Chemistry and CICECO. Ccurrently Head of the Department of Chemistry. Large experience in coordination and participation in National and EU Projects (40 +) projects, with 12+ MEuro of funding for UA. Armando published 2 books, 26 book chapters, 10 patents, 400+ papers, H-index 68 , +17 000 citations (Scopus) Large experience in PostDoctoral (15) PhD (32 of which 10 in progress) and MSc (45+) students supervising. His research interests are focused on the Biorefinery concept development namely through the: -i) sustainable extraction, identification and upgrading of added-value bioactive compounds from biomass by-products through the use benign solvents (ionic liquids, deep eutectic solvents ); -ii) new biobased polymers derived from 2,5-furandicarboxylic acid; -iii) new functional (nano)composite materials and biomaterials based on biopolymers and cellulose (nano)fibers.
