Antonio Jesus Monteiro de Castro has a PhD in informatics Engineering (Artificial Intelligence) from University of Porto (UP), Faculty of Engineering (FEUP) in 2013 and a Master Degree in Artificial Intelligence and Intelligent Systems from the same university in 2007. Also has a degree in Information Systems Engineering from Instituto Superior de Engenharia do Porto (ISEP) in 1997. Antonio is a researcher at LIACC - Laboratory of Artificial Intelligence and Computer Science of the University of Porto, performing research on Intelligent Systems in general and more recently in Quantum Computing techniques applied to intelligent systems. He is the CEO & Co-founder of MASDIMA, a startup and spinoff of FEUP and UP, dedicated to research and development of software systems using paradigms and techniques of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML). He is also responsible for research and development projects in airline operations control and scheduling of crew and aircrafts, not only at MASDIMA but, also, at TAP Air Portugal (major Portuguese airline). Published several papers in specialized journals as well as several book chapters and 2 books. Received several awards including the Best Artificial Intelligence PhD Thesis from the Portuguese Association for Artificial Intelligence (APPIA). On the Ciência Vitae the most common terms related with his cientific production are: artificial intelligence, machine learning, quantum computing and multi-agent systems.
