António O. S. S. Rangel is Full Professor (Professor Catedrático) at the Universidade Católica Portuguesa, Escola Superior de Biotecnologia (ESB-UCP), Porto, Portugal; he has 34 years of university enrollment, and is presently President of the Scientific Board of ESB-UCP and member of the Direction Board of the Research Center, CBQF. He got his degree in Chemistry from University of Porto in 1985, and his PhD degree in Biotechnology (specialisation in Chemistry) from ESB-UCP in 1991. He co-authored more than 180 papers in international journals and involved in the supervision of 20 PhD theses. His research interests are mainly focused on the development of flow methods for the automation and miniaturization of (bio)chemical assays, with applications in the food, environmental and biomedical sectors. His teaching activity involves general chemistry and analytical chemistry courses.
