Quyen Nguyen obtained his PhD degree in Textile Engineering at the University of Minho, Portugal, in 2014. He graduated in Garment and Fashion Technology at the HCMC University of Technology, Vietnam, in 2004, and obtained his MSc degree in Textile and Garment Technology at Hanoi University of Science and Technology, Vietnam, in 2008. Since 2006, he's started his career path as a university teacher. His teaching subjects include Mechanics of Fibrous Materials and CAx in Textile Engineering. Since 10/2021, Quyen Nguyen has been an auxiliary researcher at the Centre of Textile Science and Technology (2C2T) within the Department of Textile Engineering at the University of Minho's School of Engineering. He specializes in developing mathematical and computational models and employing advanced computing techniques to simulate and optimize the mechanical behavior of fibrous materials and structures. His relevant research topics, which can be found in his publications and contribute to his specialization, include Metaheuristic Algorithms, Neural Network Algorithms in Machine Learning, Algorithms-Aided Design (AAD), and CAx in Advanced Textile Processes. He is typically involved in ongoing projects such as "PRR-GreenAuto: Green Innovation for the Automotive Industry - WP5 - I&D e industrialização de novos módulos de airbag" (Project ref. nr. 02 – C05-i01/2022; Total project investment: 118.461.005,00 Euros; Total Grant: 2.269.549,89 Euros) and "RPA - Desenvolvimento de Raquete de Padel Avançada" (I&D empresas - projetos de I&DT (SI); Investimento Elegível: 1.059.203,68€). Quyen Nguyen also supervises PhD students in the Doctoral program in Textile Engineering at the Department of Textile Engineering of EEUM/UMinho.
