Diogo Peixoto holds a PhD in Animal Science from the Institute of Biomedical Sciences Abel Salazar (ICBAS), University of Porto, where he specialised in morphology and physiology. He is currently a postdoctoral researcher at CIIMAR - Interdisciplinary Centre of Marine and Environmental Research, University of Porto, working within the field of aquatic animal health and nutritional immunology. Since joining the A2S team in 2018, Diogo has contributed to numerous national and international research projects focused on the interaction between nutrition, immunity, and neuroendocrine responses in aquaculture species of economic relevance. His doctoral research explored the modulatory role of dietary tryptophan on the neuroendocrine-immune crosstalk, highlighting its potential to improve fish health and welfare under stressful and inflammatory conditions. Diogo has authored and co-authored multiple peer-reviewed publications in international journals and has an extensive record of conference communications. He has participated in a wide range of competitive research projects, including serving as principal investigator in one funded project. In addition to his research activity, Diogo has been actively involved in the scientific community as an editor for several renowned international journals and research topics. His work has been recognised through various awards and contributions to collaborative research initiatives, reinforcing his role as an emerging expert in nutritional immunology and sustainable aquaculture.
