Antonio Girona-García is currently a post-doctoral research fellow at the CESAM (Universidade de Aveiro, Portugal). He obtained in 2019 the PhD degree in Agricultural and Environmental Sciences by the University of Zaragoza (Spain), graduating summa cum laude, with international mention, and receiving the PhD Extraordinary Award. He also holds the MSc degree in Soil and Water Management (2015, University of Lleida, Spain), BSc degree in Environmental Sciences (2013, University Miguel Hernández of Elche, Spain). He has taught 240 certified hours of soil science courses and supervised four BSc thesis for the degree in Environmental Sciences (University of Zaragoza); and has been scientific advisor of one BSc, one MSc and one post-doctoral researcher (CESAM). He has been a visiting researcher at the Institute of Agrobiology and Natural Resources of Sevilla (IRNAS-CSIC, 30 days, 2014) and in the Moscow Forestry Sciences Laboratory of the US Forest Service (Moscow, Idaho, USA, 93 days, 2018). His research career focused on the study of soil degradation processes, especially on fire-induced changes on soil organic carbon dynamics as well as post-fire soil erosion modelling and mitigation. In this framework, he currently is the principal investigator of the Portuguese FCT Project FEMME (PCIF/MPG/0019/2017) and the co-principal investigator from the University of Aveiro of the Interreg SUDOE project EPyRIS (SOE2/P5/E0811). He has published 19 articles in JCR journals (84% Q1, 1 D1), one book, and two book chapters, receiving 226/295 citations with an h-index of 9/10 (Scopus/Google Scholar). He also contributed 42 presentations to international and national conferences and seminars (21 as presenting author; 2 invited).
