Milana Liubarskaya Barata holds a Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering from the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto (FEUP), having completed her Bachelor's degree in 2023 and her Master's in 2024. She is currently pursuing a PhD in Chemical and Biological Engineering, in collaboration between NET4CO2 — a collaborative laboratory where she previously completed her Master's thesis internship — and FEUP. During her Master’s thesis, she focused on the electrochemical reduction of CO2 into methanol, contributing to the optimization of electrochemical systems for renewable fuel production. This work led to the development of a technical report and a poster presentation, where she was the first author, presented at a scientific conference. She is currently serving as an invited researcher at the University of Alicante, where she is studying electrocatalysts and electrode materials for CO2 electroreduction into e-fuels, particularly methanol, within the scope of a European CET Partnership project. Previously, she completed a research internship at LSRE-LCM/FEUP, investigating innovative 3D-printed adsorbent materials for atmospheric water capture using electric swing adsorption. This project also resulted in a scientific poster presentation, in which she was the first author. In parallel with her academic and research work, Milana has been actively involved in student and institutional activities. She served in the Department of Image and Communication for the XXIII Chemical Engineering Symposium and participated in several student-led initiatives within the Núcleo de Estudantes de Engenharia Química (NEEQ), contributing to the Marketing and Design, Recreational and Cultural, and Pedagogical departments. She also served as a mentor in the Mentoria program of the University of Porto. Milana is fluent in Portuguese and English, is a native Russian speaker, and has a working knowledge of Spanish.
