ANDREIA F. SOUSA is Principal Researcher at CICECO - Aveiro Institute of Materials, University of Aveiro, Portugal, since 2024, where she leads a multidisciplinary team on the design of sustainable polymers (renewable, biodegradable, recyclable & recycling), within a circular economy mindset. Her background is in Polymer Chemistry and sustainable chemistry, having completed a PhD in Chemistry (2011). Sousa is a distinguished scientist with >70 papers, 3 of which are highly cited, 7 are covers and 2 are 2022 HOT Green Chemistry papers, accumulating over 4370 citations, resulting in an h-index of 34. Also based on her scientific contributions, she became Associate Editor for Reactive and Functional Polymers (Elsevier), besides being a member of several other editorial boards (such as Sustainable Chemistry and Pharmacy and Sustainable Chemistry for the Environment, both from Elsevier). She coordinates/participates in several EU projects focusing on different aspects of her research interests, including Hop On ABSolEU HE, MSCA Staff Exchanges GREEN-X, MSCA Doctoral Network B3PO, CICECO award (POWER, 2022), and the MIT-Portugal project (MIT¬EXPL/ISF/0021/2017). She established and led the European interdisciplinary network FUR4Sustain (CA18220), which included over 100 experts from 59 institutions across 30 countries. In the last five years, she has secured for the University of Aveiro over €1.6 M in competitive European funding. Finally, she is the proud mother of 3 young children!
