Ana Cação is a transdisciplinary designer and research grant holder at LiDA – Laboratory in Design and Arts, Polytechnic of Leiria, working at the intersection of design, communication, and science management. She has been a research grant holder at LiDA since 2022, under the Programmatic Funding with the reference UIDP/05468/2020. She's responsible for LiDA’s communication and the creation and implementation of a digital archival system for science management and communication. In the field of Design, she has a Master’s in Design for Health and Wellbeing – a pioneer in Portugal -, a specialization in Product Design (corresponding to the first year of the Master’s in Product Design), and a Bachelor’s in Interior and Spatial Design (all from the Polytechnic of Leiria). In 2024 she concluded her master's with the dissertation “Design for Knowledge Dissemination: towards Ecological Well-being, a Design Case with sea urchins” where she proposed Ecological Well-being as a new area of intervention for contemporary Design practice and research. In 2022/2023 she participated in the Fast Track | To open Hospital - University Innovation collaborative project - created by the University of Évora, the Hospital do Espírito Santo de Évora, EPE, and the EIT Health network - as the designer in a multidisciplinary team focused on addressing patients issues on hospital discharges. Before her career in Design, her interests in social justice and human rights led her to pursue a career in law until 2019. She has a specialization in Administrative Law and Public Administration (corresponding to the first year of the Master's in Law and Legal Practice at the University of Lisbon), a Bachelor's in Law and a Post-graduate in Banking, Financial Markets and Insurance Law, both from the University of Coimbra and a post-graduate in Conflict Mediation from the Polytechnic Institute of Coimbra. Her main research interests include One Health and Ecological Well-being, Spatial Design, Photography and More-than-human Design.
