Joao Pinto da Costa completed his PhD in Environmental Chemistry in 2014/04/01 at the University of the Algarve (UAlg). He graduated in Biotechnological Eng. in 2005 at UAlg, and soon thereafter completed his Masters in Medical Diagnostics at Cranfield University. João is an Assistant Researcher("Norma Transitória") at the Department of Chemistry and the Center for Environmental and Marine Studies (CESAM) at the University of Aveiro. He is currently the author or co-authors of nearly 60 peer-reviewed papers, the author of 3 sections of books and the co-inventor of a registered patent. He has supersed and co-supervised several 3rd year students and presently co-supervises two PhD students, as well as a Researcher hired in the framework of a funded project he leads. His works are mostly centered in the area of Natural sciences with emphasis on Earth and Environmental Sciences; Exact Sciences with emphasis on Chemical Sciences, and Analytical Chemistry. His professional activities have resulted in the interaction with over 130 collaborators in the co-authorship of scientific papers. In his curriculum Ciência Vitae the most frequent terms in the context of scientific and technological outputs are: Pollution, Environment, Microplastics, Chemistry, FTIR, SEM, Biotechnology, Materials and Bioremediation.
