Sara Cunha, bachelor in biochemistry and master in health biochemistry, is currently a biotechnology PhD student at ESB-UCP, developing her work in the Bioproducts and Bioactives group at CBQF. Her PhD project focus on the study of extracts rich in bioactive peptides from marine sources, such as algae and mussels, with the goal of developing cosmetic ingredients with anti-aging and anti-inflammatory properties. She has worked in research projects in different areas such as marine biology, food and environment microbiology, immunology, molecular biology and biotechnology. In the last three years she has been working on the production and characterization of extracts from marine sources. She was an invited assistant in the curricular units Inorganic and General Chemistry in Escola Superior de Saúde do Politécnico do Porto, Portugal. She helped in the supervision of a student of a BSc in aquatic sciences (2014) and of a BSc project of an Erasmus student (2020).
