Débora Pons Fiorentin holds a Master's degree in Sustainable Energy Systems from the University of Aveiro (UAveiro), Portugal (2021) and a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from UNISINOS - Universidade do Vale do Rio dos Sinos (2018), Brazil (recognized by UAveiro with a final grade of 16). During graduation, she had a Research Initiation Grant from Fundação de Amparo à Pesquisa do Estado do Rio Grande do Sul (FAPERGS), which aimed to develop a system for measuring the solid waste produced during the construction of residential buildings. As a civil engineering student, she did her first internship at Mitra da Arquidiocese de Porto Alegre (2015 - 2016), and a second internship at Trend Investimentos Imobiliários (2016 - 2018), in civil engineering offices. In 2020, during her Master's degree in Portugal, she participated in the internship Program Galp 21, a cooperation program between UAveiro, Galp Energy, and its partners in energy efficiency. The project developed by DP. Fiorentin at the Program Galp 21 was awarded 2nd prize. Her master thesis was developed in building performance, entitle “Análise de eficiência energética em edifícios modulares leves”. Since 2021 she has been enrolled in Research Grants at the LiSAT group (Life Cycle Based Sustainability Assessment Tools Team) at the UAveiro applying the Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) methodology under different products and processes to assess their environmental performance. In 2021 she had a Research Grand under the national project WasteZero-PCBs (PTDC/EAM-MIN/31041/2017) Sustainable and nearly waste-zero technology for recycling waste printed circuit boards. In 2022 she had a Research Grand under the national project NEXTRA - Enabling the NEXT Generation of Smarter TRAnsformers (POCI-01-0247-FEDER-039906). Since 2023, she has a Research Grand under the AM2R - Mobilizing Agenda for business innovation in the two-wheel sector, under the scope of the Recovery and Resilience Plan, funded by Next Generation EU. She has presented her work at international conferences, including 4 oral presentations (Research Summit 2022; XXIII Encontro de Estudos Ambientais dos Países de Língua Portuguesa - REALP, Twentieth International Conference on Environmental, Cultural, Economic & Social Sustainability). She has presented a conference poster at the 11th Int Conference on Industrial Ecology, 2023. Recently, she has, as the first author, a published review paper “Life Cycle Assessment of green roofs: A comprehensive review of methodological approaches and climate change impacts” in a peer-reviewed international journal. During Débora’s path, she developed a set of hard skills, which include learning how to manage the construction of buildings, applying different management systems software, e.g. PLEO, and Sienge; working with design and energy modeling software - AutoCad, EnergyPlus, and DesignBuilder, in which she developed skills in projecting buildings and evaluating its thermal performance. Recently, she has developed knowledge of LCA methodology and learned how to perform an environmental assessment of products and systems with the support of software (SimaPro). Regarding soft skills, D. Fiorentin has critical thinking, initiative, good conceptual and analytical skills time management, and works under pressure. She is skilled in English, and nowadays she is learning Italian.
