PhD candidate from the programme Biology and Ecology of Global Changes in the University of Aveiro. My project aims to understand space-use locally in Tagus Estuary, Portugal, during non-breeding and at a flyway scale during the full annual cycle of migratory shorebird species. To do so, I use GPS data of three main species: Grey plover (Pluviallis squatarola), Redshank (Tringa totanus) and Black-tailed godwit (Limosa limosa ssp islandica) and cross this information with the availability of food and habitats.

Descrição da atividade Jornal / Forum
2023/04/07 I was interviewed regarding the Montijo Airport case in Tagus Estuary, Portugal. I was asked to explain an article (where I am the main author) regarding the decline in roost availability for shorebirds and in shorebird populations in Sado Estuary, and I argued that this last area is not suitable to support relocations from the birds wintering in Tagus Estuary in case of disturbance caused by the new airport. Público
2022/12/03 The main goal of this interview was to explain my PhD project and the work developed by my team regarding the space-use at a local and global scale. The media team participated in the captures of wintering shorebirds and described the techniques used and we explained how it would provide useful data for the conservation and ecology of wintering shorebirds.
