Mariana Rei was born in 1996 in the city of Porto, Portugal. Since 2018, she has a bachelor's degree in Nutritional Sciences by the Faculty of Nutrition and Food Sciences of the University of Porto (FCNAUP) and, since 2020, she has a master's degree in Health Education by the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Porto (FMUP) and the Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences of the University of Porto (FPCEUP). On her Master's Dissertation she dedicated herself to the translation, cross-cultural adaptation and validation of the Mediterranean Diet Quality Index (KIDMED Index) in a sample of Portuguese adolescents. Since 2019, she participated in scientific meetings and wrote scientific papers, as author and co-author, having published her first scientific paper in the British Journal of Nutrition (DOI: 10.1017/S0007114521000532). Mariana Rei co-supervised bachelor and master students (since 2019/2020) and lectured seminars in the Community Nutrition and Public Health Masters of the University of Porto by invitation (since 2020/2021). She was a Research Assistant (in 2020/2021) and an Invited Assistant (in 2021/2022) at FCNAUP. Currently, she is a Public Health PhD Student at FMUP (with a national Studentship from the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology), an Integrated Member of the Laboratory for Integrative and Translational Research in Population Health (ITR) and of the Epidemiology Research Unit (EPIUnit) at the Institute of Public Health of the University of Porto (ISPUP). She also collaborates as a member of the teaching team of the Continuing Training Unit "Food and Sustainability" and she is a scientific reviewer at the Acta Portuguesa de Nutrição national journal. Her main areas of interest are food education, the study of healthy and sustainable dietary patterns and the validation of health instruments.
