José Luís Mendes Loureiro Abrantes has a Business Management and Organization degree from the Higher Institute of Economics and Management of the Technical University of Lisbon, Portugal. He has a degree in ¿ Ciencias Económicas y Empresariales, section Empresariales by the Ministerio de Educación y Cultura of Spain. He has a postgraduate degree in International Marketing from Universidade Católica Portuguesa and a Ph.D. in Economic and Business Sciences¿ from the University of Salamanca. He has a post-doctorate in Marketing at Universidade Nova de Lisboa - Faculty of Economics, Portugal. José Luís Mendes Loureiro Abrantes. From July 2016 until December 2022, he was the head of the Management department. José Luís Abrantes, PhD (Salamanca, Spain) was Director of the Graduate Program in Commercial Management and Marketing for eight years (until 2005) and Director of the master's in marketing research at IPV for four years, between 2010/06 - 2014/06. Since 2008, he has been the Coordinator of the Research Group in Engineering, Technology, and Management of the Research and Development Unit of the Polytechnic Institute of Viseu - Center for Studies in Education, Technology and Health; he is also a member of the board of that Research unit. Since 2018, he has coordinated the Research Center in Digital Services at the Polytechnic Institute of Viseu. He was Visiting Professor at the University of Marmara (2007), Faculty of Economics - Universidade Nova de Lisboa, Portugal (2003-6), Graduate School of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil (2002), and the University of Salamanca, Spain (1997), among others. He has published articles in several scientific journals, namely in Tourism Management, Annals of Tourism Research, European Journal of Marketing, Journal of Business Research, International Marketing Review, Journal of Marketing Management, Journal of Hospitality and Tourism Technology, Cross-Cultural Management: An International Journal, Procedia-Social, and Behavioral Sciences, Anatolia ¿ An international Journal of Tourism and Hospitality Research, Euromed Journal of Business, Journal of Tourism and Development, among others. He participated in international conferences, for example, the Global Marketing Conference (GMC) and the European Marketing Academy (EMAC). He was the supervisor of a doctoral thesis in Economic and Business Sciences at the University of Salamanca, Spain, two PhD theses in Tourism Marketing at the University of Aveiro, one in Marketing and Strategy in the joint doctoral program of the Universities of Aveiro, Minho and Covilhã and, another in Management at the University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro, Portugal, and one in Tourism at the University of Coimbra. José Luís Abrantes develops research in the following areas: 1) marketing, 2) tourism marketing, and 3) pedagogy.
