Erickinson Lima is a conductor active both as an artist and as a professor and researcher. Artistically, he has served as conductor and artistic director of the Choir of the State of Rio Grande do Norte, Assistant Conductor of the UFRN Chamber Orchestra (2008–2009), and Conductor and Assistant Coordinator of the UFRN Symphony Orchestra (2010–2018). Under his leadership, Erickinson conducted the UFRN ensembles (the Symphony Orchestra and Choir) in performances at St Peter’s Basilica (Vatican), during a papal audience in the Paul VI Hall (Vatican City), and at the Brazilian Embassy in Rome, Italy. In 2022, he was guest conductor of one of Brazil’s most prestigious choirs, the Coral Paulistano of the São Paulo Municipal Theatre, interpreting works by Latin American composers. Throughout his career, he has premiered numerous orchestral and choral works by renowned contemporary composers. Academically, he holds a PhD (with distinction and honours) and a Master’s degree in Orchestral Conducting from the University of Aveiro (Portugal), as well as a postgraduate qualification in Conducting with an emphasis on Contemporary and Chamber Music from UFRN. During his undergraduate studies in Music, he served as a teaching assistant in conducting and received awards for his outstanding contributions. Between 2015 and 2019, Erickinson was a researcher at the prestigious Institute of Ethnomusicology – Centre for Studies in Music and Dance (INET-MD) in Aveiro, working in the field of Music Creation, Theory and Technologies. He also collaborated as a guest researcher with the UFRN Automation and Robotics Laboratory (2016–2018) and with the Centre for Research in Music Conducting and Interpretation at the State University of Ceará (2018–2021). In 2022, he founded and co-coordinated the Centre for Research and Advanced Studies in Conducting at UFRN. In recognition of his academic impact and professional achievements, he was invited to join the panel of evaluators for the prestigious Times Higher Education World University Rankings in both 2022 and 2023. Over the course of his career, Erickinson has worked extensively as a conductor, researcher, and educator at institutions including the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte, the Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of Rio Grande do Norte, the State University of Paraná, and the State University of Rio Grande do Norte. Currently, following a rigorous international selection process, he was awarded the highest score (ranked first place) in the education panel of the Individual Call to Scientific Employment Stimulus – 5th Edition by FCT (Foundation for Science and Technology). He now serves as a PhD Researcher at CIDTFF (Research Centre on Didactics and Technology in the Education of Trainers), a research unit based in the Department of Education and Psychology at the University of Aveiro, Portugal.
