Descrição da atividade | Jornal / Forum | |

2016/03/07 | "The Portuguese architect Sílvia Leiria Viegas, who for six years studied the urbanisation of Luanda for her doctoral thesis, Luanda, City (un)predictable, for the University of Lisbon, points out a clear division: the poor population “does not fit” in the concept of the city being built in Luanda. “The idea is: ‘we want the city of the richest, we’re going to make it in the image of those who have more money. Only those who go to Luanda can understand the scale of the evictions and of the peripheralization of poverty [...]" | São Paulo: Publica |
2015/11/20 | "For six years, the city of Luanda occupied her mind, even though it is still difficult to explain why she decided to make the Angolan capital the subject of her PhD thesis in Architecture. Sílvia Leiria Viegas wrote a study of more than 600 pages about what has been done in terms of urbanism in the city in recent years and called it Luanda, (un)predictable city? Governance and urban and housing transformation: paradigms of intervention and resistances in the new millennium." | Lisboa/Luanda: Jornal Rede Angola |
2015/11/02 | "The PhD thesis by architect Sílvia Viegas on Luanda analyses the housing situation in the Angolan capital since 2002, alerting to unpredictable situations caused by the way the musseques are being intervened by the State. “The qualification of the musseque (informal neighbourhood) is an alleged intention of the Government, but in practice it does not exist”, told Sílvia Leiria Viegas, researcher from the Urban Socio-Territorial and Local Intervention Study Group (Gestual) from the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Lisbon." | Lisboa: Lusa Agency |
