I graduated in Zootechnical Engineering in 2000 from UTAD (including an Erasmus internship in Spain comprising a collaboration with a French marine fish farm), got funding (¿92,52K of salary grant plus ¿50k from project grant) in 2002 to conduct a PhD aboard (FCT PhD scholarship -SFRH/BD/6901/2001), at the Instituto de Acuicultura Torre la Sal-CSIC (IATS-CSIC), completed a DEA degree in Molecular and Evolutionary Genetics (2004) from the University of Valencia, and in 2008 a PhD in Biological Sciences from the University of Valencia. In 2008 I received a post-doc stipend from the Max Plank Institute of Immunobiology to develop my research at Cologne Biocenter. From 2009-2013, I was employed as a post-doc at IATS-CSIC conducting scientific tasks and management activities in the framework of the EU FP7 project LIFECYCLE. The fruitful cooperative work developed during these 4 years, formed international collaborations with several consortium partners that are still active today. I then moved to Uppsala University were I worked as a post-doc at the Evolutionary Biology Centre (2013-2014). In the past five years (2017-2022) I worked as a post-doc at IATS-CSIC (2017-2019) and received a post-doc stipend contextualized in a national MAR2020 project to be developed in MARE IPLeiria and CIIMAR (2019-2021). The outstanding conditions and career development opportunities I found in CIIMAR motivated me to established national and international collaborations with top experts in immunology and functional genomics to bridge the largely separated fields of reproduction and transgenerational trained immunity. These collaborations were consolidated by a competitive project that I won as a P.I. (PTDC/CVT-CVT/3205/2020, ¿244k), devoted to the study of complementary contributions of parental-inherited genetic and protein cargo to successful larval immunocompetence in fish. During my research career, I have published 2 book chapters, 8 articles in published conference proceedings, 14 oral and 14 poster communications, and 26 papers in ISI indexed journals with > 673 citations and an h-index of 15. From these, 9 papers and a book chapter were published in the last 5 years. In 75% of my published papers I am 1rst, 2nd or last author. During the last 5 years I have co-supervised/ supervised two PhD students, two BYT and an Erasmus+ students. I participated as a teacher in a Master of Aquaculture (UPV-UV-CSIC), in conferences with talks focused on teacher training, joined a network of Welfare and Stress in Fish, took part of scientific spreading actions and a technology transfer programme.
