Nuno Melo is graduated and MSc in Chemical Engineering (2009 and 2011) from ISEP. Simultaneity, he worked as Production Manager in Costa & Dias Lda, a plastic company (2010/11). In 2011 he became a research assistant at UA, working in several QREN and P2020 projects. During this period, he finished his PhD in Chemical Engineering – Materials Engineering and Macromolecules Products from UA (2015/17). In addition, he took a post-graduation course in Integrated Management Systems of Quality, Environment and Safety from ISEP (2016/17) and a MSc in Mechanical Engineering from ISEP (2017/19). Since 2011, he is researcher at CICECO/UA and since 2015, he is a lecturer at Águeda School of Technology and Management (ESTGA) of UA. During this period, Nuno Melo developed skills in material science, and grow scientifically from the collaborations with many researchers and professors from UA and other national universities. In addition, he is stabilizing collaborations with members of the University of Padova – Italy, Politecnico di Torino - Italy, Czech Technical University – Prague, Czech Republic, Eskisehir Technical University – Turkey, Saint Petersburg University - Russia, Amirkabir University of Technology – Iran and University of Mons – Belgium. Furthermore, he had the opportunity to work closely with companies, such as SAPEC Química, S. A., Compogal-Indústria de Polímeros S. A., Flexipol-Espumas Sintéticas S. A., Bosch GmbH, Heliotextil S.A., Lightenjin II - Industria de Iluminação, Lda., Amplitude Acoustics - Acústica e Vibração, Lda., TMG – Tecidos Plastificados e Outros Revestimentos para a Indústria automóvel, S.A. In the last 5 years, he published 26 papers in international peer-reviewed journals, with >750 citations, being the 1st author in 14 papers and having an h-index of 15 (Scopus at 02/2022). Nuno Melo is co-author in 5 patent applications, has 10 oral presentations and 25 poster communications in international meetings. He belongs to the reviewer board of the Journal of Composites Science and the Polymers Journal. He collaborates regularly as a reviewer of scientific articles for “Adictive Manucfacturing”, “Applied Science”, “Applied Thermal Engineering”, “Carbohydrate Polymers”, “Heliyon”, “International Journal of Adhesion & Adhesives”, “Journal of Applied Polymer Science”, “Journal of Polymers and the Environment”, “PolymerInternational”, “Polymer” and “Polymers”. In addition, he is guest editor on the special issue "Polyurethane Foams: Renewable, Recycled, Recyclable — The Green Economy Applied to the Polyurethane Industry“ – Applied Sciences and on the special issue "Polyurethane Phase Change Material“ – Polymers. He was as well, invited to be a reviewer of a research project for the Poland's National Science Center. He was award with the Young Scientist Award of the year 2016 by the International Association of Advanced Materials, which reveals the quality of his work and recognition shown by his peers.
