Sérgio Godinho is a Research Scientist in Environmental Remote Sensing Applications. He completed the PhD in Interdisciplinary Landscape Managment in 2015, Master in Biosystems Engineering in 2011, and a 5 years degree in Biophysical Engineering in 2007 in University of Évora. He has 31 published papers (989 citations, Hindex=17) in ISI recognized journals and 2 book chapter as a co-author. Guest editor in two special issues: International Journal of Remote Sensing (2017-18) and Remote Sensing journal (2020). He participated in 15 international scientific events, mostly related with remote sensing topics. Supervised/co-supervised 3 PhD thesis (two concluded in 2019, and 2022, and one ongoing) and 4 Master thesis (ongoing) in remote sensing field. Participated in 13 research projects (7 national and 6 international), having led a work package in an international H2020 project focused on testing the capabilities of Sentinel-1 and Sentinel-2 satellites for agricultural landscapes monitoring. Works in the area of Natural sciences, Earth and Environmental Sciences with emphasis on remote sensing, vegetation structure and dynamics using multispectral, SAR, and LiDAR technologies; multi-scale and multi-sensor data fusion; wildland fuel mapping; GIS Analysis; Machine learning, Biogeophysical Processes, Land Degradation. Currently is an Invited Auxiliary Researcher in the Earth Sciences Institute (University of Évora) working as a remote sensing expert. He is the PI of the project FUEL-SAT: Integration of multi-source satellite data for wildland fuel mapping: the role of RS for an effective wildfire fuel management.
