I have a degree in Computer Systems Engineering and a master's degree in Computer Engineering from the Polytechnic Institute of Cávado and Ave (IPCA). I am currently in the first year of my PhD in Computer Science at the University of Minho, where I am carrying out research into the intersection between Artificial Intelligence, sustainability and intelligent environments. My research experience has been strengthened by my participation in the PRODUTECH R3 project since 2024, which directly informs my doctoral research proposal. This project has allowed me to develop skills in industrial data simulation and machine learning optimization techniques in complex production environments. My recent academic contributions include high-impact publications such as: “Efficient MLOps: Meta-learning Meets Frugal AI” (2025) presented in the 2nd European Symposium on Artificial Intelligence in Manufacturing; ‘Reusing Past Machine Learning Models Based on Data Similarity Metrics’ (2025) as a book chapter; and ”Reusing ML Models in Dynamic Data Environments: A Data Similarity-Based Approach for Efficient MLOps” (2025) in the magazine Big Data and Cognitive Computing. I have two conference papers in preparation: “Towards Generalizable Machine Learning Pipelines in Complex Industrial Scenarios” and ”ESG Transparency in AI-Driven Value Chains: An Architecture for Monitoring and Reporting Key Indicators” (2025). As a co-author, he recently submitted “MultiFlow: An Ambient Intelligence Digital Twin” ao 16th International Symposium on Ambient Intelligence. My previous research includes contributions to sustainable mobility systems, with publications on bicycle sensor systems (2021) and video-based bicycle counting solutions (2020), as well as work on embedded systems for traffic monitoring in natural parks (2023). Previously, I participated in the “Easy Ride: Experience is everything” project (2020-2021), funded by the European Regional Development Fund, which gave me valuable experience in European collaborative research environments. My research trajectory demonstrates a consistent focus on developing practical AI solutions that balance technological innovation with sustainability considerations, particularly in industrial and smart environment contexts.
