Marlene Matos is an Associate Professor in the Department of Applied Psychology at the School of Psychology (EPsi) of the University of Minho (UM). She concluded her Ph.D. in Psychology of Justice in 2006 from UM, a master’s degree in psychology of justice in 2000, and a Bachelor's degree in Psychology in 1997, all from the same university. She served as the Coordinator of the Mission Group for the Prevention of Harassment at UM and was a full member of the Ethics Committee for Research in Social Sciences and Humanities (CEICSH-UM) for five years. Marlene was a member of the Management Committee for the Doctorate in Applied Psychology and the master’s in Applied Psychology at EPsi-UM. She was a member of the Scientific Council of EPsi and the Management Committee of the Center for Research in Psychology (CIPsi-UM). Marlene represented Portugal on the Advisory Council of the Fundamental Rights Forum of the European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights (FRA) in October 2021. She is a member of the Collaborative Laboratory ProChild CoLAB against Poverty and Social Exclusion, where she coordinates projects, particularly in the Protection Area. Marlene is also an integral member of the CIG Experts List (areas: equality between women and men, violence against women, trafficking in human beings) and a member of the Board of the Portuguese Association of Psychology (APP). She is integrated into CIPsi, belonging to the Victims, Offenders, and Justice System Research Laboratory, where she coordinates the Victimology and Justice System research line. Marlene is the author and co-author of numerous publications, including over 80 indexed articles in international/national scientific journals, 58 book chapters (21 international), and 17 national books and pedagogical manuals. She has participated in 33 scientific research projects: coordinating 13 as Principal Investigator (PI) and 20 as a research team member. Marlene has developed (in collaboration) four psychological intervention programs, two of which have empirical validation studies: Mutual Helping Groups (GAM) for women victims of domestic violence; Parents in high co-parental conflict post-divorce (For2Parents). She researches in the Social Sciences fields, with an emphasis on Psychology and Criminology, and is the author and co-author of numerous conferences and posters. Her curriculum reflects her current research interests: Victimology and Crime Victims (Homicide and Intimate Violence against Women and Men; Stalking; Trafficking in Human Beings; Cyber-aggression); Psychology of Justice and Forensic Psychology (e.g., psychological assessment); Psychological intervention with victims (models, therapeutic change processes, therapeutic effectiveness). Marlene has a total of 4445 citations on Google Scholar: Web of Science h-index=16 and Scopus h-index=18. She coordinates studies and evaluations of institutional action models, structures, and national reference entities (e.g., Victim Support Services in the Department of Investigation and Penal Action (GAV-DIAP); Specialized Multidisciplinary Teams of on Human Trafficking (EME); Retrospective Homicide Analysis Team in Domestic Violence (EARHVD)). Marlene has coordinated several curricular units in various teaching cycles and has been a lecturer in various Curricular Units. She has supervised 11 doctoral theses and 68 master's dissertations. Currently, she supervises 6 doctoral students and 5 master's students. In the Association of Psychology (APsi-UM), Marlene is a psychotherapist, forensic expert, and scientific supervisor in judicial processes involving crime victims (children and adults), divorce, and regulation of parental responsibilities. She supervises professional internships for the Order of Psychologists (OPP). In 2011, she won the Interaction with Society Award, awarded by EPsi-UM (together with Professors Carla Machado and Rui Abrunhosa), for their pioneering launch (15 years earlier) of the Justice Psychology Unit on UM
