Ph.D. (2016) and Master (2011) in Genetics and Molecular Biology (specialization in Genetics of Microorganisms) from the University of Campinas, Brazil, and a bachelor with honors in Biology (2008) from the Industrial University of Santander, Colombia. Her Master's degree work was awarded the National Petrobras Technology award in 2013. She has been an Associate professor at the Technological Units of Santander (Colombia). Currently, she is a researcher at the Department of Biology of the University of Aveiro and an integrated member of the Centre for Environmental and Marine Studies (CESAM). In addition, she has been invited assistant Professor in the Department of Biology at the University of Aveiro since 2021. Her research interests are environmental microbiology and microbial ecology; mainly focused on understanding microbial communities and interactions through the characterization of taxonomic composition and metabolic diversity in natural or man-made environments, such as associated plant microbiomes, soils, waters, and petroleum fields. My goals are directed at achieving novel strategies for sustainable development, bioremediation, and mitigation of climate change.
