P. Veiga completed the PhD degree in Biology in 2008 by the University of Santiago de Compostela (Spain). In 2012, she was awarded a Post-Doctoral Fellowship by the FCT in the CIIMAR (SFRH/BPD/81582/2011), interrupted by two maternal licenses (in 2013 and 2018). Between 2018 and 2020, she was auxiliary researcher in the CIIMAR (contract under DL 57/2016). Then she won a position as Auxiliar Researcher in the second call of the competitive "Stimulus to scientific employment" (CEECIND/03893/2018) also in the CIIMAR. More recently, she has got a position as Principal Investigator (CEECIND/03893/2018) in the sixth call of the “Stimulus to scientific employment” and is invited professor at the School of Sciences from the University of Minho. P. Veiga has published 2 books, 67 papers in peer review journals and 20 congress proceedings (H=17). She played a leading role in most of them being the first, corresponding or senior author in 48 and the second author in 21. Moreover, she has published in Q1 journals of 7 different categories (Ecology; Environmental Sciences; Marine and Fresh Water Biology; Multidisciplinary Sciences; Plan Sciences; Zoology and Engineering), showing her multidisciplinary expertise. Additionally, she has given 119 presentations at national and international meetings, including 6 as invited speaker. P. Veiga has actively participated in 21 research projects, mainly in last years (11 since 2018), including a COST action (EMBOS) that involved 25 foreign institutions, a LIFE project (SEACAN >1 million EUR) and two EEA grants (BIOMETORE >2 million EUR and BIOMAR 276 thousand EUR). As proof of her research independence and leadership, in the last 4 years she was PI of the project ECOS, funded by FCT (249 thousand EUR) and is PI of an ongoing project (Marina-Forests; 50 thousand EUR) also funded by the FCT. Both include international multidisciplinary teams. She has also participated in two cross-border cooperations projects in the Euroregion AAA with different institutions from Spain being the responsible investigator in Portugal (50 thousand EUR). She coordinates a young team of researchers that also gets funds offering services of environmental consulting for different private and public entities (70 thousand EUR since 2018). P. Veiga has supervised 2 postdoctoral researchers, 3 PhD students, 5 MSc students and 37 BSc students. She has been invited to lecturer Master Programs in the University of Porto, University of Santiago de Compostela and in the PhD program on Marine Science Technology and Management from the International Campus of Excellence DOMAR, totalling more than 600 hours of teaching work. Internationally, she is often invited for doing scientific reviews in leading journals such as Ecological Applications or Marine Environmental Research and is editor in Frontiers in Marine Science, Sustainability and Journal of Marine Sciences and Engineering. She has integrated numerous panels to evaluate projects, research grants, MSc and PhD students, including a PhD thesis at the Tasmanian University. P. Veiga has participated in different oceanographic campaigns in the Atlantic coast of the Iberian Peninsula. Moreover, she is usually involved in outreach programs of scientific divulgation such as Mobidic: school at the beach, a program with schools that includes a training program for teachers, in international citizen science programs as Spring school and in scientific dissemination through several interviews for different Spanish and Portuguese media (e.g., SIC, PUBLICO). In recognition of her scientific career, she got the positive evaluation as Assistant Professor (2012) and as Associate Professor (2015) by Spanish National Agency for Quality Assessment (ANECA).
