Inês Vaz is a doctorate researcher at CICECO - Aveiro Institute of Materials, University of Aveiro (UA). She completed her PhD in Sustainable Chemistry in the University of Porto, in association with the University of Aveiro and Nova University of Lisbon. Her qualifications include a bachelor and a master degree in Chemistry by the University of Porto in 2013 and 2015 respectively. Inês has started her scientific career involved in the measurement of the vapour pressures of protic ionic liquids. During the Master and PhD studies, she has focused in the thermodynamics of solvation of alcohols in ionic liquids. Along with these research topics, Inês Vaz has also been involved in the development of different experimental methodologies. Amongst them, Inês had been involved in the design, construction and test of a micro flow calorimeter of heat conduction type. After PhD, Inês Vaz worked as postdoctoral researcher at Laboratoire de Chimie of the École Normale Supérieure de Lyon, France, studying solvation of gases in ionic liquids for gas separation purposes. Previously, she had undertaken an international internship in the Institut Laue-Langevin, studying the incorporation of transmembrane proteins in lipid bilayers. Currently, Inês is a Doctorate Researcher at CICECO hired through the project NGS - New Generation Storage funded by the Portuguese Recovery and Resilience Plan and by NextGenerationEU to develop a hydrometallurgical process for the treatment of waste lithium-ion batteries. In parallel to the development of the hydrometallurgical process, she is also working on an experimental methodology to measure the thermochemical signature associated to the transfer of ionic complexes between organic/aqueous phases. Inês C. M. Vaz has published 8 articles in international peer-review journals, which have been cited by 84 documents (Scopus 24/02/2025) and has performed peer revisions for the Journal of Molecular Liquids and Journal of chemical & engineering data. Last year, Inês C. M. Vaz has teached laboratorial classes of Biological Physical Chemistry at the University of Porto as an external mobility professor. She has co-supervised 1 BSc and 1 MSc students and is currently mentoring a PhD student. Apart from the several national and international academic conferences and seminars in which she has participated, she has been involved in the organization committee of 3 international conference and 1 winter school on the topics of ionic liquids and thermophysical properties. She has authored 11 oral presentations and (co-)authored 23 poster presentations, one of which has awarded the Best IUPAC Poster. Besides the scientific activities, Inês Vaz has participated in several science demonstration activities.
