Gabriel Constantinescu completed his Doctoral (Ph.D.) and Master (M.Sc.) studies in Physics, on 30.05.2014 at the University of Zaragoza (ICMA, CSIC), Spain, and on 30.06.2011 at the Faculty of Physics, University of Bucharest, Romania, respectively. He took his Engineering Diploma (Dipl.-Eng) Degree in Environmental Engineering on 28.02.2009, for his studies at the Faculty of Biotechnical Systems Engineering, "Politehnica" University of Bucharest, Romania. He has a h-index of 14 (at 03.05.2023, Source: Scopus), has published 46 peer-reviewed articles (13 as first author) on various functional materials (Total citations; 716; Source: Scopus, 03.05.2023), communicated research results on 20 occasions (6 oral and 14 posters) and has received several awards and/or honours in science and technology related topics. He also published 1 online interview (MCAA Newsletter) and 2 general-public articles (as a guest author, in 2019) on a online blog related to advanced functional materials (MATMATCH), and participated in several public events (most recent one: Researchers' Night 2022) dedicated in making science and technology popular to the general public. He has significant experience in advanced materials research, development, innovation and engineering, having worked with more than 15 different types of state-of-the-art materials and 30 high-tech R&D systems, in more than 8 multidisciplinary scientific projects. In 2020 & 2022, he won one IC&DT (2022.09319.PTDC, as a Co-PI), one European (TEOsINTE; H2020-WF-02-2019 Call; MSCA-IF-EF-ST - Standard individual Marie Curie fellowship; Grant agreement ID: 101003375; Budget: 147,815.04 EUR; https://cordis.europa.eu/project/id/101003375) and one Portuguese (2021.09690.CBM - Bilateral Cooperation PT/DE - Agreement FCT/DAAD) project proposal, in which he is the leading (responsible) researcher, he was the main supervisor of 1 postgraduate student involved in a recent academic Materials Engineering MSc programme, is a peer reviewer for 11 different international SCI/ISI journals (including "Materials Letters" and "Scientific Reports") and completed 8 different professional training courses in Spain, Germany, Romania and Portugal. Between 2019 & 2022, he taught, trained and managed over 70 final year science and engineering students (in 2 academic practical courses related to the electrical, magnetic and optical properties of commercial functional materials) and established several international collaborations, in both Academia and Industry (two recent ones in 2021, with a R&D group from "Bundesanstalt für Materialforschung und -prüfung (BAM)", Germany and one from the company NABLA Thermoelectrics, Spain). He is also a recent (2021) member of 3 important European science associations (SPCV, ECerS, MCAA). He is currently working as a contracted researcher in the Portuguese project PRR-AM2R-MHS (https://www.ua.pt/pt/projetos-id/1249), where he is dealing with advanced programming, data bases and composites used in a prototype e-bike concept. His medium-to-long term goal is to establish his own research team and to perform coherent research, developments and innovations in advanced functional materials and renewable energy production, conversion and storage solutions, and to promote sustainable living standards/solutions through materials science, technology and engineering, by working closely with other passionate professionals and in stimulating projects/teams. He is driven by the personal philosophy "Keep on learning and do meaningful work". In his free time he likes to go for nature walks.
