Dr. Alessandro Polini (male), Researcher at Institute of Nanotechnology of CNR (CNR Nanotec) in Italy, PhD in Nanotechnology, Master and Bachelor Degree in Biotechnologies. He has large experience in the field of biomaterials for tissue engineering, manufacturing and design of Organ-on-a-chip and LoC systems, materials sciences and microfabrication. He has carried out research in these fields both in Italy and abroad (Lawrence Berkeley National Lab and Harvard Medical School in US, Radboud University in the Netherlands), supervising several PhD and Master students. He won numerous national and international awards and honors (among them, the Lush Prize Young Investigator 2018), founded a spin-off company (SM&T S.r.l.) recognized by the CNR and focused on innovative biomaterials, has been involved in numerous EU and national projects. He is currently PI for the H2020 FLAMIN-GO project, focused on next-generation organ-on-chip solutions for personalized medicine in rheumatoid arthritis (total budget 5.8M€, CNR budget 800k€). His research has been covered by numerous national and international newspapers, magazines and TV broadcasters. He authored >40 publications in international scientific journals, 10 conference articles, 4 book chapters and 2 international patent applications.
