M. Ramiro Pastorinho obtained his PhD (Ecotoxicology) at the University of Aveiro, Portugal in 2008. During in academic progression he developed work at several international institutions among which are the University of Iceland, the University of Stirling, UK, the University of Ehime, Japan, and the Colorado School of Mines, USA. Since 2012 he possesses certification as a European Registered Toxicologist (ERT) by EUROTOX (Federation of European Toxicologists & European Societies of Toxicology), and as a Graduate Researcher in Animal Science, certified by FELASA (Federation of European Laboratory Animal Science Associations). His research interests include in the sources, behavior, exposure and effects of environmental contaminants in humans and biota. In 2018 he was a Specially Appointed Associate Professor at the University of Hokkaido, Japan. Presently he is performing exposure studies of humans and companion animals in the indoor environment, and is a full time Assistant Professor at the Department of Medical and Health Sciences, School of Health and Human Development, University of Évora, Portugal.
